ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES
Well, for me being in English is not something I enjoy too much, not because I don't like the language, but because I don't like the way it is taught.
I feel that it is much more important to learn things in English in my career so that I can continue practicing it in the future, because many of the papers we have to read are in English and the translation is poor in some cases. So I would definitely change that.
I feel that Blogs help me to acquire a better vocabulary, but other than that I don't feel that they are necessary, especially because many of them can be done with a translator and that's it, as well as the part of commenting to your colleagues, I hope this is not seen as an attack, but rather as a critical view of my experience.
Regarding things that could be improved are the conjugation of verbs, but more important than that is to know words. There are many words that I don't know anything about what they mean, so sometimes I freeze trying to think of a synonym for them.
Fortunately outside the university I constantly practice my English, due to my job as a waiter in a restaurant-hotel in Las Condes.
Last week for example, a person called to ask for room service and of my colleagues only 3 spoke English and on that day there was only me, so I answered the phone, took the order and then left it in his room.
I have moments like this every weekend and thanks to this I am constantly practicing and learning English.
